The traditional sliding gate needs enough room of completely clear back space for the gate leaf to slide into. The Cantilever Telescopic Gates are used when there is no room for the traditional sliding or swing gate or architectural effect. 

HOW DOES “FOLLOW ME” WORKS?

A FOLLOW ME SET – Pocket Gate Hardware is telescopic cantilever sliding gate hardware that disappears when fully opened into a compartment in the adjacent fence. The telescopic cantilever hardware split the gate into overlapping sections that slide closed alongside the other section. FOLLOW ME SET travel on flying carriages suspended from a cantilevered track featuring a dedicated twinned track. FOLLOW ME SET is driven by a standard sliding gate opener (not included), and a series of cables controls the opening and closing of the second leaf. As FOLLOW ME SET is a trackless cantilever system, and it will not require any track laid in the driveway entrance.

Here's how the telescopic cantilever hardware functions:

Similar to a single-panel sliding gate, the back gate panel is powered by a motor. A telescopic drive mechanism is then used to drive the front gate from the back by means of a wire rope that wraps around the bottom rail. One end of the wire rope is connected to the ground, while the other end is connected to the front gate. A sheave is fitted to each end of the bottom rail.

As the back gate opens, the wire rope pulls the front gate panel along by twice the distance, allowing it to travel at double the speed and twice the distance, ultimately landing directly in front of the back gate when fully open. The same applies to the second half of the wire rope when closing.

FIXING THE PROBLEM OF BACKSPACE

Installing a telescopic pocket cantilever gate, rather than a traditional cantilever sliding gate, can solve the backspace problem by reducing the necessary space by up to 36%. A telescopic cantilever variation called a “cantilever pocket gate” may be used where standard cantilever or swing gate installation is impractical; this version is recommended for homes with a backspace problem due to the minor backspace needed for opening.  This is ideal for properties with short driveways as it only requires minimal space for the gate to open fully.

FAST OPENING AND CLOSING

FOLLOW ME is a High-speed telescopic gate hardware that doubles the speed of opening and closing if compared to a standard cantilever or traditional sliding gate system by using an integrated system of special flying carriages + dedicated twinned tracks, and a series of cables that controls the opening and closing of the second leaf.

As the back gate opens, the wire rope pulls the front gate panel along by twice as much as the back, so it travels at double the speed and goes twice as far, ending up directly in front of the back gate when open. The same occurs with the second half of the wire rope when closing.

TWO SIDES FOLLOW ME SET BI-PARTING (Double) TELESCOPIC CANTILEVER HARDWARE

If your client has some side room on both sides of the driveway, but not enough for a traditional cantilever sliding gate, then two telescopic cantilever gates could go side by side that open in different directions, commonly known as Bi-parting Telescopic Cantilever Gates.

Installing a Bi-parting Telescopic Cantilever Gate is the same as two single-piece sliding gates, but you have the keeper on one telescopic cantilever gate instead of a post.
